Mellerio - L'annel - 18-carat gold ring with Provençal writing

Ring from the L'annel collection by Mellerio in 18-carat (750 thousandths) yellow gold . This half-band ring is engraved with the inscriptions in Provençal "Hors cest annel point n'ay d'amour" (Hors cest annel point n'ay d'amour). It is signed "Mellerio dits Meller" and numbered by the house.

Mellerio dits Meller is one of the oldest jewelry stores in France. Founded in 1613, this family business, still run by descendants of the Mellerio line, is a true institution in the world of fine jewelry.

Mellerio's history began during the reign of Marie de' Medici, who granted the Italian-born Mellerio family special privileges in recognition of their talent. The house quickly became the favorite jeweler of European royal courts, notably Queen Marie Antoinette, who was one of its most illustrious clients.

During the 19th century, Mellerio distinguished himself by becoming the official jeweler to Empress Eugenie, wife of Napoleon III. He created exceptional pieces for her, some of which are now on display at the Louvre.
